Excellent remixes able to stand with a life of their own independent of the original iterations, self published from the always divine Yazz Ahmed. Another knock-out set of album artwork, too! Sad I missed the signed version, once again.
Favorite track: Yazz Ahmed - Ruby Bridges (DJ Plead Remix).

Superbly crafted! The attention to detailed is justified on the 'Ruby Bridges' track, it's well suited for us dancers to go all out with expressionism - dramatically delightful!

Yazz Ahmed announces her second remix EP, ‘Polyhymnia Remixed’, teaming up with fast-rising underground producers DJ Plead, Asmara and Surly to rework her acclaimed 2019 album Polyhymnia. The follow up to the remix EP for Yazz Ahmed’s sophomore album, ‘La Saboteuse’, her second foray into the dance music realm is nothing short of stunning with these hypnotic reworks.
Comprised of 4 tracks, this forthcoming EP reworks Yazz Ahmed’s ‘Polyhymnia’ album based on the evocative concept of female empowerment and representation - each track is dedicated to a female role model. Coming to fruition after Yazz discovered Polyhymnia - the ancient Greek Muse of music, poetry and dance: a Goddess for the arts - Yazz created the suite of 6 tracks, each dedicated to women of outstanding qualities, role models, with whom she felt a strong connection. The album includes powerful tributes to noted women in history - Rosa Parks, Malala Yousafzai, Ruby Bridges, Haifaa Al-Mansour, and Barbara Thompson and explores the history of these women and their struggles and triumphs - through forgiveness, oppression, hopefulness, and the power to overcome.
Skittering songs from this French ensemble that straddle the line between jazz & electronic music, working both into their heady brew. Bandcamp New & Notable May 7, 2021

I tend to think of Jazz/Ambient/Electronica as more tenously anchored in the world, but Driftglass were one of several engaged & active artists in the 2019 Mercury nominees: their passion and criticism for the behaviour of the government clearly fuelling their creativity Rich Hims
