The Yazz Ahmed Quintet - When We Were Live

by Yazz Ahmed

*Special announcement*

"Due to the ongoing global pandemic and the continued absence of any live work, I've decided to make this album available again this weekend, Friday the 5th to Sunday 7th March."

Only available to download this weekend, Friday the 5th to Sunday the 7th of June 2020, The Yazz Ahmed Quintet - When We Were Live is a limited edition live recording exclusively released on Bandcamp.

The album features five tracks from Yazz’s quintet which were captured on tour in France during 2018.

“These last few months spent at home have made me realise just how much I love performing. I’m desperately missing sharing my music, the personal contact with my audience and the thrill of playing live with my band.

I know many people had been hoping to catch one of my live shows in Europe or North America this summer and so I thought I’d share this recording with you, hoping to give you an experience which might be something close to the electricity of a live show.

These recordings have been sitting on my laptop since November 2018 and I’m really happy that I’ve finally had the time to put them into a format which I can present to you.

They come from the first tour with my quintet where we were trying out new arrangements of the music from both La Saboteuse and Polyhymnia, plus some as yet unreleased material.

I played this recording to a friend of mine last night and he said it felt as if he was on stage with the band so I really hope that you enjoy listening too.

Many thanks to Bandcamp for continuing this fantastic initiative and I’m really grateful for any support you may be able to offer during these difficult times.”
